Well, helloooooo! Oh, and BOO! It's Halloween time again!

This year we're going to do something a little bit different. I've decided that a theme box is in order. I LOVE doing boxes....it feels like giving a gift. There's something so magical about assembling all the products, ribbons, tissue, and the little bits and bobs, making it as special as I possibly can. One notable difference with this box is the product sizes will be bigger. Also, I'll be adding some things many of you have never seen from me. Because the boxes will be limited, I'm also offering ala carte items UNLIMITED. So, without further ado............

HERE THERE BE MONSTERS BOX

The Nothing - super rich body cream 4oz - Freshly popped popcorn, sprinkled with sugar crystals, glazed with molasses and salted caramel, and topped with cardamom dusted macadamias

Jabberwock - bath salts 4oz - Deep, dark rosewood, smoked apple, dry tobacco leaf, honey, cedar and a tiny drop of wormwood.

The Black Rabbit - solid perfume .25 oz - Dark vanilla, myrrh, dragon's blood, egyptian musk, orchid and creamy amber.

Terrible Whatzit - Full size room and body spray 2oz - Warm peaches drizzled with butterscotch, caramel, browned walnut butter and vanilla bean, topped with gooey marshmallow fluff

Whangdoodle - owl shaped bath bomb - Cocoa bean, sandalwood, spiced shortbread cookies, and vanilla coke. Sounds weird, huh? But its YUMMY. This scent is the trickster of the bunch. :-)

Gruffalo - espresso coffee scrub 4oz - Deep black espresso, dark cocoa, toasted hazelnuts and graham cracker crumbs

ALACARTE

Bat Cookies - (available in bath salts, lotion, scrub, spray perfume and body wash) - delicate little bat shaped cookies, orange buttercream icing, and a sweet Autumn breeze.

Oogie - (available in bath salts, lotion, scrub, spray perfume and body wash) Spicy gingersnaps, licorice whips, patchouli, sandalwood and black wood.

Spidercake - REFORMULATED. This is NOT the dark and bitter blend from before. I wanted to keep the name for something else, because I like it. :-) (available in bath salts, lotion, scrub, spray perfume and body wash) spiced pumpkin, cashmere, agarwood, and wee tiny corn cakes.

The Curious Cabinet - (available in bath salts, lotion, scrub, spray perfume and body wash) Smoky copal incense, frankincense, patchouli, dried herbs and cinnamon bark.

The Conjurer (perfume only) - I can only offer this in perfume because of the ingredients.
Tendrils of sweet smoke, worn leather, labdanum, balsam, rosewood, pitch wood, beeswax, and a tiny, nearly imperceptible drop of blood red rose.

The box will go live on August 26, 2016 at NOON PACIFIC TIME. It will be first come, first served, and a limited quantity. It is a pre-order. As usual, orders will begin to ship somewhere around 2 weeks. The ala carte items are unlimited and will run through the season.

Smooch!!!

Mailing list!

It's finally happened after countless requests. The signup for the Sugar and Spite mailing list can be found here. It's the best way to be notified about contests, promotions, giveaways, and Hauntling releases. I won't be emailoing a lot, so don't worry about me spamming your inbox. :-)

I can finally post again.

I had a problem with my email and haven't been able to log into that OR Blogger. Fixed!!! I thought I'd take a minute to say hi before finishing orders for the night and (finally) sleeping!!!

Now that there are samples back in the shop, they're FLYING out the door.

Goodnight, everyone. I hope you're safe and well.

I'm Wonder Woman Today.

It's been a busy and productive day here! I restocked the Etsy shop, finished up product photography that I've neglected for FAR too long, updated the Big Cartel shop, and added master scent lists to both shops. Oh, and there are two new perfumes!

Sparrow - Green melon, coconut shreds. ozone, white lily, amber and sandalwood

The Whispering Woods - Crunchy leaves, damp soil, Incense smoke, a bitter snap of clove, and caramelized brown sugar

I'm exhausted and strangely invigorated. I do believe I'll make some soap now. :-)

Happy Sunday!!!!

Adventures in Vintage Baking - Coffee Cake

When my mom passed on, I inherited her cookbooks. This particular cookbook, the Better Homes and Gardens, circa 1960-something, is the one I most treasure. It's full of my mother's handwriting, from little notes and stars to doodles I KNOW she did while talking on the phone (she always did that). I've decided, in honor of my mother, I will make each and every recipe she marked a little star next to. And I will document it, failures and all.

Today I decided to make coffee cake. This recipe is incredibly cheap to make, and super easy!

I'm not a food blogger and my photos are taken with my iPhone with flour-covered hands most of the time. Just saying.
Better Homes and Gardens, Page 49

COMBINE:
1/4 cup salad oil
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 cup sifted all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Sift together dry ingredients and add to milk mixture. Mix well and pour into 9x9x2 greased pan (I used nonstick cooking spray because I'm lazy).
Prepare your "spicy topping."
Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 TB all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 TB melted butter and 1/2 cup broken nuts. I used cashews because they're SUPER yummy. Okay, I'm lying. I used cashews because it's all I had.

Top your batter with the spicy topping and pop int o a 375 degree oven for about 25 minutes. I should have taken mine out a minute or so sooner. The topping got a little more brown than I would have liked.
And voila! My mama would be so proud!

Why, Facebook, WHY?

It's official - hardly anyone is seeing my posts over in Facebook-land. What's a girl to do? Spend more time working on a sadly neglected blog was the answer I came up with.

You should subscribe. Really you should.

New Web Site. Quick post.

Sugar and Spite now officially resides at either sugarandspite.net or horriblyadorable.com . I'm not changing the name of the business - I just really really wanted a dot com and sugarandspite com was taken. Both addresses lead to the same page. And there are links to pretty much every social media site I participate in (and more coming). I'll be adding to the site whenever I find time. :-)  I hope you're all having a a wonderful end - of - weekend before the dreaded Monday begins.

Cheers!!!
