Halloween at the Bathery (and the Emporium, too)!

It's that time again - my favorite time of year. I wish I could say I smell Autumn already, but sadly all I smell are the Bakersfield streets baking in this 102 degree heat. Soon, though!!!

Here are some of the latest happenings......

I've kind of split the business into two parts, hence the "Nonsense Emporium." I really can't think of anything else that describes what I do. I'm taken by flights of fancy, and I'm always working on some new project or trying some new thing. But not always - so the Emporium will not always be full.

Buuuuuuut - I am working on some projects to debut with the Halloween line. One such project is these Halloween noisemakers. I have a huge, monstrous love of old toys, and these are my homage. This one, Halloween-themed, of course, is a zombie kewpie baby. He is sculpted out of paperclay, painted, and given several coats of matte varnish. The rattle/noisemaker part is constructed of papier mache, feather, ribbon, fabric, and any other thing that strokes my fancy. The inside is filled with rice for a gentle sound. No two will ever ever be alike. They are approximately 9"x4" and will come with a hanger attached to the back for hanging on the wall.

These aren't the best photos - just a couple I snapped with my phone for Facebook-land.

In the Bathery, the Halloween line will consist of 3 fragrances, each being offered in a scrub, lotion, perfume, and bath truffle. Also, lip balms are back!!!!

The 3 scents are:

Goblin - Blackened honey, kissed by night blooming flowers and a ghostly whisper of smoky vanilla.

Sinister - le Carnival Noir..... black licorice whips, tea leaves, and incense smoke from darkened caravans.

Fiend - Ripe apple pulp, tart mandarin, vanilla beans, and a fiendish ribbon of black amber.

The balms:

Creep
Ghoul
Spook

There will also be various Halloween themed cold process soaps, but the batches were VERY small on them and they most likely will not be duplicated.

The shop closes this Friday for maintenance and to stock all these goodies!!! I will post here and on Facebook when I reopen!

Have a happy week!
