It's finally happened after countless requests. The signup for the Sugar and Spite mailing list can be found here. It's the best way to be notified about contests, promotions, giveaways, and Hauntling releases. I won't be emailoing a lot, so don't worry about me spamming your inbox. :-)

I can finally post again.
I had a problem with my email and haven't been able to log into that OR Blogger. Fixed!!! I thought I'd take a minute to say hi before finishing orders for the night and (finally) sleeping!!!
Now that there are samples back in the shop, they're FLYING out the door.
Goodnight, everyone. I hope you're safe and well.

I'm Wonder Woman Today.
Sparrow - Green melon, coconut shreds. ozone, white lily, amber and sandalwood
The Whispering Woods - Crunchy leaves, damp soil, Incense smoke, a bitter snap of clove, and caramelized brown sugar
I'm exhausted and strangely invigorated. I do believe I'll make some soap now. :-)
Happy Sunday!!!!

Adventures in Vintage Baking - Coffee Cake
When my mom passed on, I inherited her cookbooks. This particular cookbook, the Better Homes and Gardens, circa 1960-something, is the one I most treasure. It's full of my mother's handwriting, from little notes and stars to doodles I KNOW she did while talking on the phone (she always did that). I've decided, in honor of my mother, I will make each and every recipe she marked a little star next to. And I will document it, failures and all.
Today I decided to make coffee cake. This recipe is incredibly cheap to make, and super easy!

I'm not a food blogger and my photos are taken with my iPhone with flour-covered hands most of the time. Just saying.
Better Homes and Gardens, Page 49
COMBINE:
1/4 cup salad oil
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup sifted all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Sift together dry ingredients and add to milk mixture. Mix well and pour into 9x9x2 greased pan (I used nonstick cooking spray because I'm lazy).
Prepare your "spicy topping."
Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 TB all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 TB melted butter and 1/2 cup broken nuts. I used cashews because they're SUPER yummy. Okay, I'm lying. I used cashews because it's all I had.
Top your batter with the spicy topping and pop int o a 375 degree oven for about 25 minutes. I should have taken mine out a minute or so sooner. The topping got a little more brown than I would have liked.
And voila! My mama would be so proud!

Why, Facebook, WHY?
It's official - hardly anyone is seeing my posts over in Facebook-land. What's a girl to do? Spend more time working on a sadly neglected blog was the answer I came up with.
